Dynamics 365 Activate: What Salesforce Migrations Still Need

Microsoft has had a tool called Dynamics 365 Activate in public preview since September, and it targets Salesforce customers directly. It uses AI to help migrate CRM data and configuration into Dynamics 365.

Automation handles moving records, mapping fields, and rebuilding basic workflows well. The harder work comes afterward: deciding how the sales process should run in the new system, which customizations are worth carrying over, and how the CRM connects to finance and operations once the data has landed.

That is where migrations have always succeeded or stalled, and a faster on-ramp does not remove those decisions. Here is what I expect to see as a result. When a migration becomes cheaper and quicker to start, more companies take a serious look at making the move, and the projects that follow still depend on experienced architects and consultants to design and govern the new environment.

It is also worth watching how Microsoft positions this alongside its broader push to bring Copilot skills and agents into Dynamics 365.
