LinkedIn Post: Poll Results — NetSuite & D365 Hiring Outlook

The votes are in, and they tell a more sobering story than I was hoping for.

Last week, I shared that last year was the most difficult revenue year DynamicsFocus has had in the 15 years since I started this business, and I asked the people closest to the NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics 365 channel how the hiring landscape feels to them compared to last year.

After compiling the poll results, I’m afraid the overall outlook does not appear to be too “rosy” for most of us in the MS Dynamics and NetSuite channels still.

Here are the actual results:
About the Same: 38%
More Pessimistic: 25%
More Optimistic: 23%
Still too early to tell: 15%
If you look at those numbers honestly and the feedback I’m getting is this:

Only about one in four people in our ecosystem feels better about the market than they did a year ago, while nearly two out of three see it as flat or worse. That is not a recovery; that is a market still in a state of uncertainty.

Here is why I think this matters, the modest rebound I am personally seeing in my own pipeline is not coming from an overall improvement in the market unfortunately as your responses seem to indicate.

The improvement on my end is coming almost from a far more proactive business development approach from me after I admitted to myself that I had grown complacent and leaned too long on existing customers and word-of-mouth referrals.

The market itself is not driving strong momentum right now; but the activity you generate appears to be the key in driving any kind of revenues at all at the moment.

For hiring managers, partners, and VARs, I believe there is a real opportunity hiding in these numbers. When 63% of your competitors read the market as flat or declining, they hesitate on hiring, and the small group moving with conviction gets the first chance on the strongest talent.

Some of the best people I have represented in 25+ years are quietly open to a conversation right now for exactly this reason.

Thank you to everyone who voted and shared their perspective; this community’s candor is worth more than any analyst report.

If you are hiring in the NetSuite or Dynamics 365 channel, or thinking about your own next move, my door is always open.
