Two of the biggest conferences in my world happened within two weeks of each other, Community Summit for Microsoft Dynamics in Nashville and SuiteWorld for NetSuite in Las Vegas, and I think they delivered the same message from opposite sides of the ERP market.
At Community Summit, Microsoft’s Georg Glantschnig said the value of AI comes from redesigning how work gets done, not from speeding up a single task.
At SuiteWorld, Oracle NetSuite put that idea into practice with Ask Oracle, SuiteSkills and agents that run under a NetSuite role, ask for approval and log their changes. NetSuite also opened the door to outside AI tools through its new AI Connector Service, which is already live in the Claude and ChatGPT marketplaces.
Both are telling customers that the agents are arriving, and both are just as clear that clean data, governance and a human making the final decision come first.
Using these new AI tools to improve process efficiencies are becoming increasingly easier to deploy. The harder part though, is still having the right people who understand the business process, fix the data underneath it and know when an agent should stop and/or the individual needs to question the output or challenge the entire reason for doing it to begin with.
That is where I see the hiring market heading on both platforms. The Dynamics 365 and NetSuite professionals who combine deep functional knowledge with the judgment to govern AI will be the ones every team is competing for, and I do not think that gap closes anytime soon.
